Ready to Arrive

I am headed to Guatemala to meet the rest of our team from SGIUMC. We have 15 on the team this year and I am stoked about what will happen as we serve the people around Panajachel, Guatemala. What is really amazing is seeing the lives of our team changed. Our spiritual senses seem to be so much more awake when we are away from our normal context. Mark Batterson even talks about the importance of disrupting the normal routine as a way of leading people into a deeper level of discipleship. A mission trip confirms this. Somtimes we are so comfortable with routine, but it can retard spiritual growth. My prayer is that this week will be a time of holy discomfort for our team. We are working with Lloyd and Melanie Monroe at porch de salomon. They are making an impact in an area full of people who are far from God. Pray for them. Pray for us. Pray for the people we meet.
